What to Know Before You Visit

Gov. Brown’s June 3rd announcement allowed for immediate reopening for museums, zoos and gardens across the state. Since then we have been hard at work to ensure a safe, exciting OMSI experience.

The health and safety of OMSI guests and staff is our utmost priority, and we want you to feel comfortable and safe while discovering at OMSI. To meet state guidelines and help limit the spread of COVID-19, OMSI has implemented some changes throughout the museum. By reviewing these details before your visit, you will know what to expect and how to help keep all guests and staff healthy.

What's Open and Daily Hours

OMSI is open Monday through Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm for a limited number of visitors to see BODY WORLDS & The Cycle of Life and the USS Blueback Submarine. The last entry for BODY WORLDS will be at 6 pm and the last submarine tour at 6:10 pm. The OMSI Science Store will also be open 10:30 am to 6 pm.

OMSI’s exhibition halls, the Empirical Theater, Kendall Planetarium, and museum restaurants will remain closed. We will be monitoring state guidelines as the summer progresses, and will bring back additional experiences for your enjoyment as soon as it's safe to do so.

Purchase Tickets

We strongly recommend purchasing admission tickets and parking online prior to your visit. Upon arrival, guests may present the ticket order on their phone to be scanned by museum staff. Admission tickets can also be purchased via phone at 503.797.4000, and can be sent to the guest’s email account or picked up at the museum front desk.

Maintain Distance

To meet distancing requirements, signage will be posted throughout the museum. Admissions to the BODY WORLDS exhibit will be limited to 25% of capacity and the USS Blueback Submarine will be limited to 20% of capacity. Capacity will be controlled through the use of timed ticketing and monitored by staff. Guest parties may not exceed ten (10) people.

Wear a Face Covering

OMSI museum guests and staff age five (5) or older are required, and youth age two (2) to four (4) are strongly recommended, to wear either a cloth, paper, or disposable face covering (that covers the nose and the mouth) unless an accommodation for people with disabilities or other exemption applies. Any guest or staff member without a face covering will be provided a disposable face covering.

Know the Symptoms

Signage will be posted throughout OMSI requiring guests or staff with known symptoms of COVID-19 to stay home and contact a medical professional. All OMSI staff are required to complete daily health assessments including temperature checks. Any staff with a temperature in excess of 100.4 degrees or feeling ill for any reason must not report to the museum.

Sanitize

Additional hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed in key guest contact areas. All hands-on exhibition components have either been removed from the museum floor or turned off. OMSI will follow enhanced cleaning protocols and use an EPA-registered disinfectant that is active against coronaviruses. Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned, sanitized, and disinfected multiple times daily.

Thank you to US Bank for supporting OMSI year-round, especially during closure.
