Paleontology Lab

Free with Museum Admission

Evolution at your fingertips

Ancient bones and fossils showcase life’s evolutionary tale. Experience specimens that are millions of years old while interacting with staff and volunteers preparing regionally-collected fossils.

Fossil preparation in action

Step into a working fossil preparation lab! Observe specially-trained staff and volunteers transform fossils collected in the field to display-ready specimens, which requires a lot of rock removal and fossil repair.

As you explore, handle fossil shells, leaves, and bones you can find when exploring Oregon and Washington. What stories do these fossils tell?
