We are proud to offer admission assistance and financial aid for OMSI programs. Whether you are visiting the museum with a group, hosting a lab program in your classroom or sending a child to summer camp, OMSI helps to ensure STEAM experiences and programs are accessible to all in our community. We work to eliminate barriers and want to hear from you when we can do better.

When should I apply for financial aid?

Reserve a program experience prior to requesting financial aid or apply for financial aid at the time of registration. For more information on educational program availability please contact register@omsi.edu or call the registration office at 503.797.4661.

Two weeks advanced notice is required for all financial aid applications for all school and community programs.

How are financial aid awards determined?

Oregon and Washington schools must be considered Title I or have 30% or more of students qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program. Organizations that do not meet this criterion must submit an additional letter of need written on school or non-profit organization letterhead and signed by the principal or director.

Several criteria, including total group size and the total cost of the program, are used to determine awards. Please keep in mind that changes to the headcount or to the programs you have selected may result in changes to your award.

How long does it take to process financial aid applications?

Financial aid applications may take up to two weeks to process. If you would like to proceed with your reservation regardless of whether or not you receive aid, please contact the Program Sales office at 503-797-4661 or by email at register@omsi.edu to finalize your reservation.

Who funds OMSI financial aid?

OMSI is fortunate to be able to offer scholarship funds due to the generosity of many donors. If you receive a financial aid award, we strongly encourage you to send a letter of thanks to the donor(s) who provided the funding for your award and to complete a survey about your experience. Our ability to provide future funding is dependent on maintaining good relationships with our donors, and your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

How will I be notified of a financial aid award?

Once your application has been processed, you will receive an award letter by email. Once you have received your award letter, you will need to contact the Program Sales office within 5 business days to accept your award. If you do not contact us within 5 business days, your award can be released for use by another group.

When should I apply for financial aid?

OMSI Summer 2023 camp and classes registration opens February 1, 2023. Financial aid applications will be available at this time. To apply for financial aid, first add the camp or class to your cart. When you reach the Student Profile page select the “Apply for Financial Aid” check box. This will guide you to the financial aid application. Apply by March 15, 2023 to be eligible for the first review period. All Summer 2023 applications must be submitted no later than May 15, 2023.

How are financial aid awards determined?

After you submit your financial aid application with your camp or class registration you will be contacted by a program sales coordinator within 5 business days to confirm we received your application. Applications must be completed in full before they are eligible for review.

For applications received prior to the May 15th final deadline award letters are expected to be emailed May 22, 2023.

 

To accept an award letter no action is required. To reject an award letter or if plans have changed please contact the registration office. Thank you letters to donors can be mailed to OMSI Development Office.

 

If OMSI is unable to fund the program and you receive a letter declining financial aid, you will need to contact the registration office within 5 business days to finish payment for the program or receive a refund of the deposit payment. If you do not contact us within 5 business days, your camp/class spot can be released.
