What are vouchers?

Vouchers are single-use tickets that you can use to see shows at the Kendall Planetarium, Empirical Theater, or tour the USS Blueback! One voucher is good for one ticket. 

How do I use my vouchers?

You can redeem submarine or theater vouchers online by logging in with your membership or at the front desk during your visit. You may call OMSI’s concierge line at 503.797.4000 to reserve tickets for future dates.

How can I find out how many vouchers I have?

You can learn how many vouchers are on your membership by speaking with a member of the Guest Services team. Call us at 503.797.4000, email us at concierge@omsi.edu, or ask us in person at the front desk.

Do my vouchers roll over?

Any unused vouchers will expire at the end of their membership year.

Can I change the names on my membership?

You have the opportunity to change the names on your membership during the annual renewal process. However, if you need to change a name on your membership before then, we can help you do so. Please contact us at 503.797.4000 or concierge@omsi.edu.

Do I have to name a second adult?

You do not need to name a second adult on the membership! Leaving the second adult empty will allow you to bring an unnamed adult with you to the museum as a complimentary guest. The named adult will need to be present in order to check in that guest.

Do you need to name kids?

We do not require youths to be named on the membership. The youths on your membership are able to be any child ages 3-17. Children younger than 3 years old are always admitted to OMSI at no charge.

Can my child use my membership without me present?

If your child is 13-17 years old, they can visit the museum on their own with their photo ID (school or state issued). We are able to add them as a named youth on the account. Call us at 503.797.4000 or email us at concierge@omsi.edu if you would like your child to use the membership on their own.

What if I or my child has a support worker with them?

Support staff attending the museum with their client will receive complimentary admission. They will not use any guest passes or vouchers while attending. Please let us know while checking in if any support staff are present.

Does my membership come with guests?

Each membership level has different guest benefits. At Patron, Family Plus,  and President’s Circle levels, you will be able to reserve at least two guest admissions per day. The Family and OMSI for 2 levels do not include guest admissions, but flexibility for a guest is possible if you choose to not name a Secondary  Adult. Check our membership page for level-specific benefits information.

Can a guest use my membership without being named on the membership? What if a grandparent/caretaker/family friend wants to take my children to OMSI?

One of the named adults would need to be present to admit an adult guest. If your child is brought to OMSI by an unnamed guest, your child can be admitted with the membership, but the guest would need to purchase a separate admission ticket.

What if I have additional guests with me who are not covered by my membership level?

If you are looking to bring in additional guests, you may be able to upgrade your membership to a level that would include them. Otherwise, additional guests can purchase a separate admission ticket at the front desk or online.

Is parking included with membership?

Parking is separate from all membership levels. You are able to pay for parking through Parking Kitty’s app ,website or parking kiosks stationed in our lots. Parking is  $5 (+ fees) for 2 hours or  $8 (+ fees) for all day parking.  Guests arriving at 5pm or later can expect to pay a flat fee of $2 (+ fees) for the evening.

What is a planetarium matinee? (Patron level)

A planetarium matinee is any show that plays from 11:30am-4:30pm. The only OMSI planetarium shows that are not considered matinees are the 6pm and 7pm laser light shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

What is the ASTC? How do I use my membership with it?
  • OMSI is a participant in the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) Passport Program. This allows OMSI members to visit 325+ other participating science and technology centers and receive reciprocal benefits. The benefits at other locations may be different than those you receive at OMSI. Check the ASTC website or contact the science center you are visiting for benefit information and required documentation. 
As an OMSI member, what other discounts am I eligible for?

Our Members receive discounts on special exhibits; Theater, Planetarium, and Submarine tickets; 15% off OMSI After Dark tickets; 10% off Summer Camps & Classes; 15% off special events; and a 10% discount in the OMSI Science Store, Theory Restaurant, and Empirical Café. Is an OMSI membership tax-deductible?

Memberships are non-refundable and may be tax deductible depending on the amount. Please consult your tax advisor for details.

What do I need to bring to use my membership at OMSI?

You can use your membership by presenting your digital membership card and photo ID  at the front desk. When you activated your membership, your digital membership card was sent to the email address listed on your account. You can present the membership card in the email, or from your Apple or Google wallet.

Why can’t I log into the website?

To log in with a membership on the website, you will need to use the email associated with the membership. If you are having any trouble and would like assistance, please call us at 503.797.4000 or email us at concierge@omsi.edu.

Why do I need to present a photo ID?

We check photo ID to ensure the guest is one of the named adults on the membership, which allows us to maintain the integrity and value of the each membership.

How do I redeem my gift membership? (including info on gift memberships from pre-2022)
  • There are three ways to redeem a gift membership: 
    • Option 1: Present your gift voucher at the front desk
    • Option 2: Use the Membership Activation link. Enter your 10-digit membership code and press submit. Then, enter your membership details and proceed to checkout. Fill out the additional information, and select “Redeem Membership.”
    • Option 3: Visit www.omsi.edu/become-a-member  and select “Activate a Gift Membership.”Enter your 10-digit membership code and press submit. Then, enter your membership details and proceed to checkout. Fill out the additional information, and select “Redeem Membership.”
Are memberships annual? Do they auto-renew?

Your OMSI membership is active for 12 months from the date of purchase. We do offer auto-renew, but you must enroll at time of purchase or renewal. You can renew over the phone at 503.797.4000, email at concierge@omsi.edu, online, or in person.

How does auto-renewal work?

Enrolling your OMSI membership in auto-renewal takes the hassle out of annual renewals. Enjoy uninterrupted access to your membership benefits, save time, and lock in the best value! 

Here’s how it works: as your membership approaches its expiration date, the credit card registered to your account will automatically renew your membership at 20% off*. You will receive email reminders 25 and 5 days prior to the renewal, giving you the flexibility to update your payment information or opt out of auto-renewal if needed.

Are all OMSI memberships eligible for auto-renewal?

The auto-renewal option is available for the following membership levels: OMSI for 2, Family, Family Plus, and Patron.

At this time, auto-renewal is not available for the following memberships:  

  • All President’s Circle levels (i.e., Supporter, Innovator, Explorer, Partner, Leader)**
  • Monthly Sustaining Memberships (i.e., OMSI GEMs) **
  • Corporate Memberships**
  • Teen Adventure Access Passes
  • Non-Profit Memberships

*This discount cannot be combined with other discounts, programs, or promotions (i.e., Arts For All, Educator discount, holiday promotions, etc.).

Can I apply general admission tickets toward a membership?

Yes! You are able to apply one purchase of Museum Admission towards a qualifying membership within 30 days of purchase. Bring in a printed receipt, copy of your online tickets, or send an email to concierge@omsi.edu so we may help you become an OMSI member!

Does OMSI offer financial aid for memberships?

OMSI is committed to making science-fueled fun available for all. To make our memberships accessible, OMSI offers financial aid on memberships to educators and recipients of state benefits.
