Join us as we kick off the Oregon Science Festival weekend with a special night of science!

Erin Macdonald, PhD, will be here to teach us the science of spacetime and how we see that portrayed in our favorite science fiction franchises. We will look at artificial gravity, faster-than-light travel methods, time travel, and multiverse theories! Erin will also share a bit about her career and how she made the move from gravitational wave researcher to science advisor in Hollywood.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Erin Macdonald has a PhD in Astrophysics and is a writer, speaker, producer, and science advisor, most notably the official science advisor for the Star Trek franchise. She has also voiced her fictional counterpart Lt. Cmdr. Erin Macdonald in Star Trek: Prodigy and the video game Star Trek Online. Known as the “Julia Child of Science”, Erin loves to teach science to the public through books, television, film, and public talks.

Will food be available for purchase?

Yes, the Empirical Cafe will be open with prepackaged salads, sandwiches and movie snacks. The bar will be open to guests that are 21+. No outside food or drink is allowed.

Do I have to pay for parking?

OMSI has a new parking system via the mobile parking app, Parking Kitty, to create an easier and more streamlined experience for our visitors. Parking is $2 + fees for after-hours events. We recommend you download the app prior to your arrival at OMSI. You can also pay via their website at www.parkingkitty.com.
