Project Description
Voces offers Latine(x/o) youth and families opportunities to build awareness of and skills in climate change conversations that can foster climate actions in their communities. AB Cultural Drivers (ABCD) and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will collaborate with community members through a Colaborativo Comunitario/Community Collaborative (Colaborativo), formed through partner organization, Adelante Mujeres, to inform the development of a 500-800-sq.-ft. bilingual (Spanish-English) museum exhibit installed at OMSI.
This project will help science centers and other informal science learning (ISL) organizations support culturally responsive climate change conversations, especially among Latine(x/o) exhibit visitors.
The community-based project design and inquiry of Voces will result in co-developed deliverables that forefront voices of Latine(x/o) community and team members, especially the Colaborativo, as they provide new, evidence-informed approaches for broadening public participation in climate conversations and climate science.
In addition to the framework of informed approaches for broadening public participation in climate conversations and climate science, the project anticipates creating resources accessible through a variety of media, institutions, and community-based organizations
