OMSI named winner in the 2024 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards contest for best science museum

[PORTLAND, OR – March 7, 2024] – The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) was named number one in the 2024 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards for best science museum. The winners were chosen by public vote during the month of February, and ten museums were chosen out of the fifteen nominated.
“We are equally humbled and overjoyed by this honor!” said Erin Graham, OMSI CEO and President. “We are so grateful to our OMSI communities here in Portland and around the Pacific Northwest for their enthusiastic support. Part of what makes the OMSI experience so special is that we help create lasting memories for people of all ages over multiple generations. This award, won by public vote, speaks volumes about the support for OMSI and our mission, and we are thrilled.”
Alongside OMSI, other museums who made the final list include: Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum of Albuquerque; Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago; Science Museum of Minnesota; The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia; and the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
The Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards nominees were chosen by an expert panel, and the final list was voted on by the public.
