Included in General Admission | Current science gets up close and personal at Meet a Scientist. This program, held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, features local scientists who share their research and knowledge with you through hands-on activities and conversation. Meet a Scientist exclusively features professionals who are OMSI Science Communication Fellows.


June 9 Topics

  • Join Nick and learn about soft robotics and how they solve problems.
  • Explore the water we use to grow our food with Amber.
  • What makes two shapes mathematically different? Practice being a mathematician with Branwen and learn about a weird world where a circle might be the same as a square.
  • Explore the psychology and ethics of conservation decision-making with Chelsea.
  • Meet Allison and come play with robots to see how movement can tell stories!

  • Sample a reservoir with Chrissy.
  • Emplore coastal seagrass ecosystems and its associated microbes with Winni.
  • Meet Hannah and learn about ground water pollution and the microbes that eat it.
  • Join Val to explore why corals look so colorful or feed a sea anemone.
