PORTLAND, Ore. (August 3, 2018) – Entertaining. Inspirational. Thought-provoking. Science fiction cinema as both art and insight into popular thinking on the future is celebrated at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry’s 2018 Sci-Fi Film Festival. From August 8 – August 26 the festival will showcase more than 20 of science fiction’s most memorable films on the Empirical Theater’s giant four-story screen. From 1950’s classics such as Forbidden Planet to recent favorites like Ready Player One, the festival has films sure to entice a wide cross section of sci-fi fans.
For the first time, OMSI’s popular Reel Science and Reel Eats events are also part of the festival. Portland professor, author, and astrophysicist Ethan Siegel speaks at the August 8 Reel Science featuring the Michael J. Fox hit Back to the Future, while the August 23 Reel Eats pairs a playfully designed tasting menu of 10-12 bites with Ridley Scott’s iconic Blade Runner.
