Portland, Ore. (May 19, 2015) – Beginning May 21, OMSI will be home to The Science of Ripley's Believe It or Not!–an extraordinary collection of intriguing objects and astonishing artifacts which showcase the science of the extreme and unexpected. This highly interactive featured exhibit allows visitors to explore the real science behind the seemingly unbelievable, and is designed for people of all ages to enjoy.
The Science of Ripley's Believe It or Not! presents some of the world's most perplexing optical illusions, investigates incredible examples of body modification and celebrates the life and legacy of Robert Ripley, the explorer and adventurer. Visitors can discover epic examples of extreme biology as they stand inside a life-size Megalodon jaw, experience what it would be like to be swallowed by the giant prehistoric snaked called Titanoboa, or measure up against Robert Wadlow, the world's tallest man, who grew to 8 feet 11 inches.
In addition, guests are invited to delve into the world of the unexpected. From a giant portrait of Albert Einstein made of toast to a larger-than-life portrait of Justin Bieber made from candy, the science of pixilation comes to life in colorful and unusual ways.
The Science of Ripley's Believe It or Not! is a joint production between Ripley Entertainment Inc. and Science North. The Science of Ripley's Believe It or Not! special exhibition is supported and funded in part by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. The exhibit will run from May 21 through September 7, 2015.
