2019 OMSI Sci Fi Film Fest Selection
In this explosive final chapter of the Matrix trilogy, Neo, Morpheus and Trinity battle to defend Zion, the last real-world city, against the onslaught of the machines that have enslaved the human race. And, now as Neo learns more about his heroic powers--including the ability to see the codes of things and the people, he faces the consequences of the choice made in The Matrix Reloaded.
Released six months after The Matrix Reloaded, this third installment in the trilogy was filmed concurrently with its predecessor, primarily at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia. Critics widely panned the film as the weakest in the series, and audiences likewise voted with their feet -- the film grossed a bit more than half the box office of The Matrix Reloaded.
Whether the poor financial performance signaled public fatigue with the Matrix storyline or simply dissatisfaction with The Matrix Revolutions denouement, rumors of a Matrix sequel have gained ground in recent years. Indeed, in August of this year, Warner Bros. announced that Lana Wachowski, Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss had reteamed to start production on a sequel in early 2020.
