OMSI 2018 Sci Fi Film Fest

Entertaining. Inspirational. Thought-provoking. Science fiction cinema as both art and insight into popular thinking on the future is celebrated at OMSI's 2018 Sci-Fi Film Festival.


For eighteen days, the festival will showcase over 20 of science fiction’s most memorable films on the Empirical Theater’s giant four-story tall screen. From 1950’s classics such as Forbidden Planet to more recent favorites like Ready Player One, the festival’s offerings are sure to appeal to science fiction fans of all ages and interests.



Wedneday, August 8, 6:30pm - Reel Science presents Back to the Future with a presentation by Portland professor, author, and astrophysicist Ethan Siegel on "The Science of Traveling To The Future.... And Back."


Thursday, August 16 - Alex Garland Night: Annihilation and Ex Machina. Two attendees to each of the evening's screenings will receive a special door prize.


Friday, August 17 - David Lynch Double Feature: Dune and Eraserhead. Two attendees to each of the evening's David Lynch films will receive a special door prize.


Saturday, August 18 - Robot Theater: Forbidden Planet, A.I. and Ex Machina. Each attendee to the evening's Festival screenings will receive a free pass to OMSI's feature exhibition Robot Revolution. Limit 1 pass per person. 


Thursday, August 23, 7:00pm - SOLD OUT -Reel Eats presents Blade Runner with a menu of curated bites matching key moments in the film. Please note: admission to this event is restricted to 150 guests. Tickets are priced at $30 per person or $25 per person for Sci Fi Fest pass holders (limit one ticket per pass holder).


Saturday, August 25 - Of Unicorns and Replicants: Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. Two attendees to each of the evening's screenings will receive a special door prize.

 Also, for the first time, pass holders receive a discount to our popular Reel Eats experience, a cinematic and culinary convergence. The August 23 Reel Eats features Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.  


Festival passes are priced at:

$30 Adult / $25 Senior (63+) & Youth (3-13)


Add $25 to any pass for admission to the August 23 Reel Eats screening of Blade Runner that includes a curated tasting menu consisting of 10-12 items that accompany the film. SOLD OUT


OMSI members receive $3 off any pass option
