FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[PORTLAND, OR – March 3, 2026] – History comes to life at TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition, opening at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) on March 21, bringing to the Pacific Northwest over 100 authentic artifacts recovered from the wrecksite of the famous Ship for viewing by visitors.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition provides audiences the opportunity to discover history’s most legendary Ship through unforgettable experiences that redefine Titanic storytelling. Guests entering the exhibition are drawn back in time to April 1912, when the Ship embarked on her first and final journey. Each visitor receives a replica boarding pass, assuming the role of a passenger as they explore Titanic’s legacy —from the Ship’s construction to life on board, to the infamous sinking. Also covered is the contemporary effort to recover artifacts and conserve the wrecksite for scientific analysis, historical preservation, and to ensure future generations can admire, contemplate, and learn from Titanic.
“We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary exhibition to OMSI, inviting our guests to experience one of history’s most powerful and enduring stories through authentic artifacts and compelling human stories,” shares Erin Graham, OMSI President and CEO. “Beyond the scale of the tragedy, Titanic reveals a moment of remarkable innovation and ambition. The exhibition offers a window into early 20th century science and engineering, and into the lives of the people whose journeys were forever changed by her voyage. ”
In a first for West Coast audiences, the exhibition features a sweeping Immersive Gallery that brings the Ship to life by pairing cinematic visuals with audio reenactments of passenger and crew accounts of Titanic’s grandeur, society and tragedy. An optional VR tour immerses guests in the sights, sounds, and emotions of Titanic, including historically accurate views of previously unseen areas of the Ship. Audio guides will also be available in multiple languages to enhance the visitor experience through reenactments based on real stories from the Ship’s passengers and crew.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition is curated by RMS Titanic Inc., the stewards and salvor-in-possession of the Titanic wrecksite, responsible for preserving the legacy of the Ship, the recovery and conservation of artifacts, and honoring the memory of those who sailed on the Ship. The company has conducted nine research and recovery expeditions since 1987 and has recovered over 5,500 artifacts.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition will be on view at OMSI from March 21 through October 18. Learn more here.
Interviews with Tomasina Ray, President of RMS Titanic, Inc., will be available in person on Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 20.
