5. Great work experience
If you’re older than 14, you can apply to volunteer at the museum. For people between the ages of 14 and 19, volunteering at OMSI is the perfect opportunity to gain job experience and job readiness skills while having a great time!

6. Connection to the museum’s history
OMSI was literally built by volunteers, who laid the first bricks of the museum’s first building! As you help greet visitors or experiment with guests in the chemistry lab, you become part of a decades-long OMSI legacy.

7. Community
Share an inspiring science moment with a young learner, bond with a fellow volunteer, or connect with OMSI staff in an exhibit or lab. Every volunteer shift is a chance to build community as you play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment and rich guest experience at the museum.

8. Fun recognition
Some of our volunteers have been here for many years, and we find any excuse to celebrate their contributions! Celebrations during Volunteer Appreciation Week, anniversary shout outs at staff meetings, a commemorative plaque, and more—we get creative with our fun volunteer recognition!
