OMSI’s 11th Annual Studio Ghibli Film Fest Opens January 16!

[PORTLAND, OR – December 30, 2025] – Some of the world’s most beloved animated movies take the spotlight when the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) launches its 11th annual Studio Ghibli Film Festival on January 16. The festival runs from January 16 to March 2 with screenings of twenty-one Studio Ghibli films, including popular favorites such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, and The Boy and the Heron.
New to the 2026 program are two pre-festival Reel Eats screenings of Spirited Away on January 14 and 15 featuring bite-sized snacks that pair with moments in the film. The festival officially starts on Friday, January 16 with an opening celebration of the recent 4K restoration of the iconic Studio Ghibli release Princess Mononoke. Tickets to the Opening Night Event include complimentary movie snacks and a beverage, door prizes, and a pass for free OMSI admission on a future date.
For more than 30 years, Japan’s Studio Ghibli has created some of the most revered and adored animated works and characters, establishing itself as one of the world’s finest producers of animated motion pictures in the world. With a reputation for lush visuals, attention to detail, and epic storytelling, Studio Ghibli creates intelligent, poetic, often fanciful films that embrace family, community, and a deep concern for the environment.
OMSI, in partnership with distributor GKIDS, is proud to offer the Studio Ghibli catalog to local audiences at its Empirical Theater, the largest movie screen in Portland.
Tickets for the pre-festival Reel Eats: Spirited Away screenings are $36 per person. Opening Night Princess Mononoke 4K tickets are $22 for adults, $19 for seniors, and $16 for youth. All other daily festival screenings are available at $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for youth. OMSI Members receive discounts on all festival programs, and group discounts are also available.
