Using an array materials, students build bridges, towers and other structures to complete engineer design challenges. Explore some basic physics principles while learning the importance of working as a team. There are four sessions available – pick your favorite or choose up to all four to extend the challenge!
- Unit 1: Velcro Disks – Using this unique building material, students will learn about designing under constraint. They will work to complete building challenges to meet a variety of criteria.
- Unit 2: Keva Planks – Art and science collide as students use this precise building material to complete design challenges meeting a variety of criteria.
- Unit 3: Straws and Pipe Cleaners – How can you make a structure strong? In this challenge students use some familiar materials to complete another design challenge.
- Unit 4: Potato Chip Mailer – Students learn about the physics of potato chips as they complete this challenge to design a container to safely send a potato chip through the mail.
