This program must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.

Using an array materials, students build bridges, towers and other structures to complete engineer design challenges. Explore some basic physics principles while learning the importance of working as a team. There are four sessions available – pick your favorite or choose up to all four to extend the challenge!

  • Unit 1: Velcro Disks – Using this unique building material, students will learn about designing under constraint. They will work to complete building challenges to meet a variety of criteria.
  • Unit 2: Keva Planks – Art and science collide as students use this precise building material to complete design challenges meeting a variety of criteria.
  • Unit 3: Straws and Pipe Cleaners – How can you make a structure strong? In this challenge students use some familiar materials to complete another design challenge.
  • Unit 4: Potato Chip Mailer – Students learn about the physics of potato chips as they complete this challenge to design a container to safely send a potato chip through the mail.

A minimum of 2 weeks' advance notice is required for all registration requests. If you have questions, please contact us at 503.797.4661 or register@omsi.edu.
