Cider drinking is a lost American tradition, recapture it here and learn how to make your own! Participants will explore the history and science of cider, as well as learn the steps to turning a half gallon of apple juice from the store into delicious hard cider to drink at home. Fermentation is one of the oldest and simplest means of preserving foods. It is also the best way to manage your gut microbiome, the ~100 trillion bacteria that live in your gut and change your health in a myriad of ways. In this class you will create a personalized batch of sauerkraut to take home, as well as learn the basics of making your own kombucha and what a SCOBY is. You will also get an introduction to your microbiome, and snack on some fermented foods while you learn about new scientific discoveries on the depth and breadth of how our microbiome influences our health.
One adult participant per ticket, children under 12 are welcome to share a ticket with an adult. General Admission is not included in the price of the ticket.
Bitters demystified! Learn how to make and use bitters in this hands-on workshop. This class will cover the history and science of bitters as well as basic formulas, tools, and processes to make bitter tinctures at home. Participants will have the opportunity to do tastings of various commercial bitters brands, as well as 36+ individual tinctures, and will blend two batches of bitters to take home.
