Your students will get a unique look at technology, geography, culture, the environment, and much more as you expose them to a world of new ideas. OMSI's five-story OMNIMAX Dome Theater features surround-sound and images ten times the size of a neighborhood movie theater, making you feel like you're part of the action! All groups must register 10 days in advance to receive the discounted rate. Schedule and shows are subject to change.

Dinosaurs Alive is a global adventure of science and discovery - featuring the earliest dinosaurs of the Triassic Period to the monsters of the Cretaceous "reincarnated" life-sized for the giant IMAX ¨ screen. Audiences will journey with some of the world's preeminent paleontologists as they uncover evidence that the descendants of dinosaurs still walk (or fly) among us. From the exotic, trackless expanses and sand dunes of Mongolia's Gobi Desert to the dramatic sandstone buttes of New Mexico, the film will follow American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) paleontologists as they explore some of the greatest dinosaur finds in history. Through the magic of scientifically accurate computer-generated animation, these newly discovered creatures, and some familiar favorites, will come alive... in a big way!

Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs

Narrated by actor Christopher Lee (The Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, and the original 1959 film The Mummy), Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs explores the mysterious world of ancient Egypt through the fabric of its ancient mummies. The Egyptians' mummy-making culture was not the first, the last, or even the longest. But to many, it was the greatest. The Egyptians believed their destinies were the wishes of gods, whose wills their dead ancestors might influence. By revering their ancestors through mummification, they hoped to gain better control of their destiny.

Grand Canyon Adventure
Grades 4 - Adult | Now showing

Take an exhilarating river-rafting adventure down the Colorado River in the company of two 18-year-old women and their fathers, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a world-renowned environmental activist, and Wade Davis, the eminent anthropologist and writer. Also featured are Shana Watahomigie, a Grand Canyon guide and member of the Havasupai tribe; and extreme kayakers Nikki Kelly and Anthony Yap. The film documents their journey as it raises awareness of crucial issues, including water management, conservation, global crisis and individual responsibility.

Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure

Stunning computer-generated animation transports audiences back to the Late Cretaceous, when a great inland sea divided North America in two. The film weaves together a series of paleontological digs from around the globe and tells the compelling story of scientists as detectives, answering questions about ancient ocean worlds.

Films-by-Request
Tuesday-Friday: 10am and 12 noon, October through mid-June

Groups of 50 or more can request their own film from OMSI's library of educational and entertaining movies. Smaller groups are welcome to register for regularly scheduled featured films or request films reserved by another group, subject to availability.

The Alps: Giants of Nature
Grades 4-Adult

Follow John Harlin III and his attempt to climb the infamous Eiger North Face-the iconic peak that claimed the life of his legendary father 40 years ago. This 6,000-foot vertical face of sheer jagged limestone is considered one of the most difficult climbs in Europe. Harlin will be joined by renowned German climbers Robert and Daniela Jasper for this historic and emotional adventure.

Coral Reef Adventure
All Ages

Travel across the spectacular coral reefs of the South Pacific. Built by tiny coral animals over thousands of years, reefs comprise just one percent of the ocean, yet nurture one-quarter of all marine species. See the Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Tahiti, and the depths of Rangiroa Atoll.
